Wow. What an incredible adventure we went on in June as a family. We whisked ourselves away to attend a friend’s wedding in the Pacific Northwest and then flew the rest of the way to Hawai’i. This trip was our celebration of 10 years of marriage but it was also so much more than that. It was a sharing of our love of traveling with our son, showing him what traveling is like. It was flexibility and exploration and “first times” and being game to do new and unexpected things.
It was waiting in line forever to take car ferries to and from Whidbey island. It was jumping into the Pacific Ocean with snorkel gear and fins on, for the first time ever no less, and having a blast. It was long car rides that lead to epic moments, like watching Mount Kilauea erupting right before our very eyes. It was swimming with sea turtles and running with the waves. It was trying different foods and rolling with the punches and letting the wind take us where it will. It was hiking in the PNW and in the rainforest and walking in a dark old lava tube. And let’s not forget experiencing a few time changes!
