The earliest years of your child’s life are some of the best. They are constantly taking in information as they explore the world around them. This is the stage where they discover their hobbies and find their learning style. One of the best things you can do to encourage them is to find a center that provides hands-on exhibits so your child can walk away with some new knowledge. As a Northern Virginia photographer and mom, I adore finding spots I know families will love. If you’re on the search for a great space to spend your weekend, let me tell you about one of my favorites: Children’s Science Center Lab. This Children’s Museum In Northern Virginia is guaranteed to keep your child entertained for hours.
3957 Pender Drive, Suite 100, Fairfax, Virginia 22030
The Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation started the Children’s Science Center Lab. This non-profit organization is committed to making science accessible to kids across the community. The center sees tens of thousands of visitors annually and constantly finds new ways to connect with families. They created the Children’s Science Center Lab to be an interactive space where your child can spend a day learning all about STEM from hands-on exhibits. You can find the museum inside the Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax.
Every weekend, the Children’s Science Lab opens up and welcomes Northern Virginia kids of all ages to the museum. They offer three entry slots that last for two hours each. You can purchase your tickets in advance to ensure you can get in when you’d like. The museum contains four galleries with activities and experiments. Your child will spend the afternoon developing their problem-solving skills, engaging in some critical thinking, and developing their natural curiosity.
Outside of their regular hours, this Northern Virginia children’s museum hosts programs that will excite your child to learn! The programs begin with preschool for their Building Bookworms events. During these sessions, your child can listen to stories written to teach them more about science. The center works with schools to host Family Science Nights, where you can come with your child and lead them through engaging activities. Every summer, they host themed day camps. You can choose to send your child for one day or one week at a time. While there, your child will get the chance to learn about topics such as robotics, engineering, and geology.
Children’s Science Center allows your child to learn in a brand new way. Stop by this children’s museum in Northern Virginia this weekend so you can make some priceless memories!
