Music is wonderfully beneficial no matter your age. It brings us together and forges a connection between total strangers. Even before your baby is born, playing music has been found to build up their cognitive skills. Toddler music classes harness the power of music and create an experience that helps your child make friendships while learning the basics. If you’ve been looking for the perfect weekday activity to do with your little one, I would love to tell you why Little Steps Music might just be the perfect match for you!
5631 Williamsburg Blvd, Arlington, Virginia 22207
Little Steps Music opened in 1996 to offer classes for kids from birth through the age of 5. The program is a part of the vast network of Music Together classes and has tapped into the magic of music to make it more accessible to every child. In 2008, the studio received recognition from the official Princeton Music Together office for having enrolled 10,000 families. Since then, their impact has only grown stronger. They feature teachers who have studied music and are passionate about helping young musicians bloom. While the main office is located off Williamsburg, you’ll find locations all over the city with classes you can easily fit into your busy schedule.
The primary option through Little Steps is a mixed-age music class where infants, toddlers, and preschoolers can get together and jam. They combine ages to create a family-like atmosphere. Younger kids can look up to the older kids as an example, and the big kids learn how to be natural leaders. Throughout each class, your child will sing, dance, chant, and play age-appropriate musical instruments. They will also grow their listening and observation skills. The classes take place over a semester, with a new song collection starting each season. Your registration will include 10 weekly 45-minute classes. You’ll also have access to the Music Together app, where you can look at the songbook and check out their playlist. If you’re not sure whether Little Steps is the program for your child, you can sign up for a free demonstration to try it out.
On top of their in-person music classes, Little Steps offers online courses you can enjoy from the comfort of your home. You can have Zoom classes with a trained expert and watch pre-recorded, short lessons as often as you’d like. The course songbook will be mailed to your house, and you will receive the same app access as you’d get with regular classes. There are also online rhythm classes designed for preschoolers and early elementary students.
