Leesburg Animal Park

Leesburg Animal Park is such a fun park to visit with littles. You really could spend a whole day there. Firstly, you can start by meandering through the farm to feed the animals ($5/feed cup). There’s a “contact area’ where you can walk around with the farm critters like goats, sheep and llamas. Then, head over to the play structures that offer imaginative free play, hill slides, wagon rides, and even pony rides. Thirdly, there’s even a whole indoor 3-level play zone and toddler area that’s available year round too.

Children 2-12 enter for $15.95 and adults pay $17.95. Kids under 2 are free. They have a “Kid’s V.I.P Pass” option for $19.95 that includes admission, feed cup & pony ride ticket. In addition to that, they offer season and multi-visit passes as well, which is a great idea if you plan on going often. This park is even specifically *open* weekdays that are student holidays in Loudoun County. So. there you go, a place to take your children on a school closure day. How about that?

Douglass Dunes

Imagine this, a gigantic INDOOR sandbox. It temporarily lives in downtown Leesburg (705-H East Market Street, Leesburg VA) while the Douglass Community Center undergoes renovations. We will definitely be making a trip here because he LOVES sand!

It’s open Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-9 pm and Saturdays from 8 am-4 pm, with pauses from 10:30-11:30 am Mon-Fri and from 2-2:30 pm on Mon/Wed/Fri.

Downtown Historic Leesburg

While you’re at Douglass Dunes, you might as well spend the whole day in downtown Leesburg! It’s a really cute walkable town with vintage vibes so there’s sure to be something for everyone. With plenty of places to dine in, shops to visit, and little parks, you and your littles can all enjoy the town. Pro tip: bring a stroller unless you want to test how far the little legs will go!

One Loudoun

Okay, I know what you’re thinking, a mall?? Hear me out! Firstly, there’s a splash pad open 10am-6pm daily! So you can splash around while rocking out to kids concert every Monday at 11am during June-August. Secondly, you can mosey over to The Meadows for some frozen custard. And then, if you need additional relief from the heat, pop into one of the many stores/restaurants, or into the movie theater for a kid’s movie!
