One of the most frustrating sentences you’ll hear again and again throughout your pregnancy is, “Sleep when the baby sleeps!” Any parent of a newborn can tell you this is total nonsense. Not only do newborn babies pretty much never sleep long enough to let you feel rested, but the pile of dishes in the sink and the dirty clothes in the hamper don’t take a break just because your baby does. This is why night nurses are maybe the best people on the planet! They’ll come in and take care of your baby so you can get the sleep you need. If you’re in dire need of a good night’s rest, I’d love to tell you all about Let Mommy Sleep!
Let Mommy Sleep was founded in 2010 in Washington DC by Denise Stern, a tired mom of twin girls. There were complications throughout her delivery, and her husband didn’t have paternity leave. She knew there had to be a better way to get through the postpartum period and decided to use her experience with small businesses to help parents in similar situations.
She began to hire nurses to provide overnight care for families. Within the first year, they received national acclaim, and before long, they began to franchise. Today, there are 12 locations across the United States, including in Loudoun Co, Virginia. They’ve been featured on Today, Harvard Business Review, and Mom.com and have even been invited to the White House. And regardless of their acclaim, they’re still committed to providing affordable care to exhausted parents.
At Let Mommy Sleep, their primary goal is to provide night nurses to help you stay afloat. You’ll talk to the company and tell them the approximate dates you need care. From there, they’ll send you the contact information for a qualified caregiver. All the night nannies are Registered Nurses or Newborn Care Providers.
They’ll take care of diaper changes, rest times, and feedings (unless you’d like them to wake you up to nurse). Your night nanny will clean any bottles they use and do light tidying around the house. If you choose, they will provide you with evidence-based education or guidance for sleep training.
All the night nannies are CPR-certified and have received SIDS and Sleep Safe certificates. They aim to empower you to get the rest you need to be the best parent possible!
Let Mommy Sleep provides classes that will teach you all about the basics. You can meet with a Registered Nurse virtually or in person. You’ll learn how to safely get your child to sleep, diaper, dress, and bathe a newborn, soothe your baby, and protect them.
They’ll also teach you how to feed your baby regardless of your preferred method. By the end of the course, you’ll feel ready to handle any challenges parenthood can throw you!
If parenthood is wearing you down, it’s time to check out Let Mommy Sleep. This wonderful agency is here to give you the rest you need!
