Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, the transition into the newborn stage can be pretty hard to handle. Not only are you recovering physically, but you’re trying to figure out all of your baby’s cues while barely getting any sleep. Even the most seasoned parents can struggle with this stage. If you could use an extra hand, one of the best things you can do is hire a postpartum doula who will be there to guide you through this transition. At Metropolitan Doulas, you’ll have access to experts dedicated to helping you make the most out of the newborn stage.
Metropolitan Doulas is an agency of professionals founded in March 2015 by Nikki Wray and Kathleen McCue. In April of 2022, the founders decided it was time for a change. They passed the reins onto long-time team members Ayesha Chatterjee and Betsy Quilligan. Today, the team is constantly expanding, seeking out dedicated doulas so they can provide families with the care they need. You’ll find doulas of every experience level, as well as lactation counselors and mental health advocates. The team is committed to providing quality and compassionate care to every family and are LGBTQIA+-inclusive.
At Metropolitan Doulas, the team will come to you to provide exceptional care. Their daytime doulas work minimums of 4-hour shifts. During this time, you can get support with both bottle and breastfeeding. They’ll examine a feeding and gently provide guidance to make sure you have the best chance at success. While they can’t answer medical questions, they will provide evidence-based information regarding newborn care as well as your recovery. They’re pros when it comes to navigating postpartum mood disorders and can keep an eye out for symptoms. They will also be there to provide light assistance within the house, run errands, and provide unlimited emotional support.
If you could just use some rest, the team lets you hire an overnight doula. With this option, they’ll determine if you want to be woken when it’s time to feed the baby. They’ll work with your newborn to develop healthy sleep habits that will pay off long after their services are no longer necessary.
Metropolitan Doulas offers prenatal Newborn Care Classes that will get you completely prepared for your baby’s arrival. They’ll teach you what to expect following birth, walk you through what the first few weeks will look like, teach you about safe sleep practices, demonstrate how to bathe your child and teach you diapering, swaddling, and babywear. They offer both private and virtual options.
With Metropolitan Doulas, you’ll have a team of experts dedicated to easing you into the newborn stage. Check them out today so you can find the doula that’s right for you!
