School’s out and pools are open! When summer hits, I start looking for fun water activities to do and I imagine you must be too. So, here are 4 Water parks in Northern Virginia for you to take your children to!

Four Water Parks in Northern Virginia Your Kids Will LOVE

Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole – Reston VA

This waterpark is simply phenomenal. It sits within Lake Fairfax Park and you’d hardly know it was there until you drive into the park. This park features 3 three-story water slides, a lazy river, a splash pad zone and other aquatic fun spaces. Wesley and I came here on a whim one afternoon after 4pm last year and we absolutely had a blast tubing down their lazy river. We discovered and played the longest in the toddler-friendly splash pad zone while we were there.

Under 48″ tall costs $13.50 and over 48″ costs $16.50 ($17.50 on weekends). Children under two enter for free. Same day, walk-in tickets are available at the door as well. However, if you want to ensure you have a ticket, you can pre-purchase your ticket online.

Atlantis Waterpark – Centreville VA

Atlantis Waterpark sits inside Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville VA. I’ll tell you what, this waterpark seems to have it all. There’s two enormous waterslides available to slide down, one 230-ft open slide and one 170-ft fully enclosed slide. Not only that but there’s a large main pool complete with a play island with smaller slides. And then, there’s a large dumping bucket (seems to be a theme with waterparks…), covered slides, open slides, water cannons, sprayers, and more. Let’s not forget activities for the littlest ones; there’s also a baby pool and a sand play area!

For weekdays, under 48″ tall or over 55 costs $8.50 and over 48″ costs $10.50. For weekends, under 48″ tall or over 55 costs $11 and over 48″ costs $13. And if you fancy a discount day, after 4 PM on weekdays, it’s $6.25 for all to enter. Children under two enter for free. Please note that you’ll also have to pay the gatehouse fee, per vehicle.

Bonus feature: Food is available for purchase here.

Hal and Berni Splash Pad – Aldie VA

The new Hal and Berni Hanson Regional Park boasts its very own splash pad. And do you know what the best thing about this splash pad is? It’s 100% FREE to go. This 10,000-square-foot splash pad includes activator spray grounds, a water-squirting spider, water cannons, and the most ginormous water bucket drop I have ever seen so far in my parenting life (subject to change as I gain more XP in all things waterpark). They also have a fairly large covered pavilion in addition to quite a few picnic tables distributed throughout the space. There’s plenty of (very clean) bathrooms as well for changing and potty breaks.

Water shoes are not required but highly recommended. Also, please note that outside toys are not allowed on the splash grounds. Be sure to check out the hours of operation on their website because their hours change as the summer season wears on.

Ocean Dunes Waterpark – Arlington VA

This waterpark is a sister park to Atlantis, both being within the Nova Parks system. The Ocean Dunes Waterpark is located within Upton Hill Regional Park. This one features a 500-gallon dumping bucket and two giant waterslides as well. There is a play structure in the park that offers tube slides, open slides, fountains, squirters, and platforms. All on a level concrete surface which makes it perfect for both children of all ages and the adults who watch over them. If you have older children and get tired of the water, hop over to play miniature golf, adventure through a climbing course, pop into a batting cage, or take a hike on one of the park’s many trails.

For weekdays, under 48″ tall or over 55 costs $8.50 and over 48″ costs $10.50. For weekends, under 48″ tall or over 55 costs $11 and over 48″ costs $13. And after 4 PM on weekdays, it’s $6.25 for all to enter. Children under two enter for free.

Four Water Parks in Northern Virginia Your Kids Will LOVE

Well there you have it, 4 pretty awesome Water Parks in Northern Virginia to hit up this summer. My hopes were to offer parks in different regions of Northern Virginia because if you live in NoVA, then you know where you can go really depends on where you live. And if you can’t be at a beach, then why not a water park instead?

Whether I’m chatting about my favorite places to take my son or talking about our troubles getting pregnant, I love connecting with my clients in more ways than just in front of my camera. But seriously, if you’ve been considering booking a photo shoot, I would love to chat with you! Have a look at my family or maternity portfolio.
