About NOVA Birth Partners

Founded by Faith Ramirez, a mother in her own right with seven children, NOVA Birth Partners was born out of the loss of Amaya, her very first child who came into the world with severe neurological impairments. Doctors had determined that Faith’s newborn daughter would only have 6 weeks to live. Because of Faith’s love, determination and care, Amaya lived for 3 years. She is the reason Faith changed career tracks to become a nurse skilled to care for her own daughter and where her passion to support birthing families come from. In Faith’s words, “NOVA Birth Partners is a legacy to my [children] to have health care that is inclusive, respectful, and EQUITABLE for when they decide to start families of their own.”
Today, they span the entire east coast with birth and postpartum support divisions in Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland, California, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Georgia, Texas and Florida.
Services Offered
Services offered at NOVA Birth Partners is as comprehensive as you can get for pregnancy AND postpartum alike. A lot of families tend to focus their energies on preparing for the pregnancy and the birth experience itself. Sometimes the postpartum part is a blank slate because it’s unknown to new parents. With all their offerings, you will certainly be cared for throughout the entire journey of birth and beyond, well into the newborn days.
Birth Doula Services
After your free consultation with a Childbirth Advocate to chat about your birth needs, you will attend a virtual “Meet the Doulas” session. This provides you a safe space to meet and learn about the members of their team. It also allows you to meet other expecting parents. From there, you can decide whether to hire a solo doula or work with a team of doulas! If you have older children you want to be present for the birth, consider a sibling doula. Their sole purpose would be to give them undivided attention so you can focus on labor. If you unexpectedly find yourself on bedrest, antepartum doula services might be a good fit for you as well.
Postpartum Doula Services
Once the baby has arrived, you suddenly find yourself not only in charge of caring for a newborn but also needing care for yourself. And your home and surroundings. All while sleep deprived and recovering from labor and delivery. Yikes! Enter NOVA Birth Partners and their plethora of postpartum services. You can pick from babysitters, nannies, postpartum doulas, newborn care specialists, mother’s helpers, and even registered nurses. Every one of them vetted and qualified. You get to interview and hire the right fit provider for you and your family as well!
Specialty
NOVA Birth Partners offers many other specialty services, including placenta encapsulations, NATIONWIDE. They offer two methods of preparation, heat-processed or steamed & dehydrated. With the heat-processed method, the placenta is only washed, prepared, and dried. Their specialists dehydrate at OSHA and National Food Safety Commission recommended levels of 160 degrees. Their steamed & dehydrated method is similar to the Traditional Chinese Method but excludes additional ingredients and includes an additional steaming step.
This practice truly believes in uplifting all families of all backgrounds and providing services in their communities at large. To this end, they offer Person of Color (PoC) support groups and Birth circles. They partner with local community clinics to provide free and discounted classes and services to at-risk families. Not only that but they provide help and support services for incarcerated birthing people and offer group pregnancy and postpartum classes through community partners.
